Annual Newsletter

DULUTH CHILDREN’S MUSEUM

Duluth Children’s Museum had undergone a few large changes right before I started my internship during the winter season of 2017. These included hiring a brand new Museum President/CEO and undergoing a full rebranding through an outside agency. To communicate and familiarize the public with these changes, Cameron C. Bloom Kruger, the new President, wanted to create a newsletter. Called ‘Discover’, this newsletter covered current Museum happenings, donor acknowledgements, and communicated the Museum’s commitments to the community.

When it came to the design of this newsletter, it was important for it to reflect the look of the new Museum branding. I was given access to the external design agency’s files for the updated brochure they created to ensure a seamless look. I did not scare away from the use of color, rather making a bright, vibrant color palette a big focus for each page, inspired by the playfulness and imagination of children and the Museum alike.

My favorite Easter egg in the newsletter is the famous quotes on the bottom of each page, highlighting the importance of play in a child’s life. My hope was quoting well-known individuals, such as Albert Einstein, would show parents the importance of places like Duluth Children’s Museum and influence their next family outing.
